ABOUT01 of 04

I'm Gian Geralcus

Based in Jakarta. Business Operations & Technical Lead by role, Systems Engineer by practice. I spend my days improving operations, fixing legacy system pain, and building AI workflows. Evenings are for language models, machine learning, and the agents people are stitching out of them.

I've been highly interested in technology since I was a kid, pulling things apart to see how they worked, then putting them back together a little differently. The curiosity hasn't changed. The toys just got more sophisticated, and now they kind of think back.

Self taught, on my own path. No bootcamp, no formal AI degree. Just papers, lectures, docs, and a steady habit of trying things and writing down what I find. The best tools tend to come from people who actually use them, and the same goes for understanding.

I read papers slower than I'd like. I run small evals before I trust a model with anything that matters. Most of what I learn ends up in private notebooks. Some of it ends up in the projects on this site.

My formal background is supply chain and information systems, picked up across a few countries. The diplomas and certs are listed further down for the ones who care. The LLM and ML side I've been building from scratch.

2026 FOCUS02 of 04

Studying language models on my own path

This year is mostly reading and running small experiments across agent design, retrieval, evals, the failure modes nobody wants to write about. Self paced, no curriculum, just questions and the time to chase them.

I keep a private notebook of what works, what doesn't, and where the marketing diverges from the lab. The interesting questions tend to live in the gap.

Not chasing benchmarks. Just trying to understand what these tools do well, what they pretend to do well, and where they shouldn't be trusted yet.

    • Wrote a sync pipeline moving operational history from a legacy system to the cloud, without disrupting the people using it
    • Develop AI workflows that reduce manual sorting, improve follow up, and make work performance easier to track
    • Stood up a small AI gateway so recurring inference costs stay predictable
